Description
This handicraft is made by original Pattamadai weavers. It is located in Tirunelveli district of Tamilnadu. It is also called korai or korai paai and its made up of special kind of grass called korai (cyperus pangorei). We customize the mat as requested by customer.
The Korai is cut very thin(1:8 or 1:4) and then is used in weaving these mats. This is reason why mat is soft and light weight.
Speciality of pattamadai mats is that it uses purely natural colours/dyes.
